Back-end connections

By connecting to the backend of the charging station, the users or the administrator of the charging infrastructure can access various functions, e.g. user management, overview of charging processes and balances for billing.

This type of system makes it possible to manage the charging station via a computer, tablet or smartphone.

Business

Charging stations associated with the “Business” filter offer high power ratings and/or charge management functions, making them suitable for professional purposes.

However, it is important to note that businesses are not entitled to Klimabonus subsidies for the installation of private chargepoints.

A specific subsidy scheme for businesses was introduced in 2022 which can be consulted on guichet.lu.

Charge management (collective intelligent charge management system)

Some charging stations offer intelligent, interactive charging management for multiple vehicles. In the case of a residential property, it is recommended to use an intelligent management system to distribute power automatically and dynamically between the simultaneously charging vehicles to optimise the building’s power supply as well as the charging of the cars.

Note that there are models without OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) compatibility which can offer these functions.

A charge point integrated into a collective intelligent charge management system is eligible for subsidy of up to €1,650. More information.

Charging station capacity

Private charging infrastructures (domestic connection for single-family homes) are generally limited to 11 kW, which is the recommended and sufficient capacity in such cases. A higher charging capacity (up to a maximum of 22 kW) requires a payable increase in the capacity of your domestic connection. You should also make sure that the power of the planned installation matches the technical characteristics of your electric vehicle.

Note that the list includes charging points whose power rating can be adapted (from 22 kW to 11 kW).

Klimabonus subsidies

Charging stations eligible for Klimabonus subsidies are easily identifiable thanks to a system of distinct icons.

Charging stations with a green check meet the criteria for receiving financial support.
Charging stations with an orange triangle are conditionally eligible, meaning that the indicated criteria must be met to receive financial support.
Charging stations that are not eligible for Klimabonus subsidies are marked with a red cross.

The purchase of a simple charging station is eligible for state subsidies of up to €750*. More information.

The purchase of an intelligent charging station compatible with OCPP 1.6 (Open Charge Point Protocol) can be subsidised up to € 1,200. Charging stations with this additional functionality are marked with the “OCPP 1.6” icon*. More information.

A charging station that is integrated into a collective smart load management system can be eligible for up to €1,650. Charging stations with this additional functionality are marked with the “Collective intelligent charge management system” icon*. More information. More information.

OCPP 1.6 minimum

A charging station compatible with the OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) is eligible for financial support of up to €1,200. More information.

The Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) provides a uniform solution for the method of communication between the charge point and the central system. Thanks to this protocol, it is possible to connect any central system to any charge point, regardless of the supplier. A standardised protocol prevents all kinds of coordination difficulties, and is therefore beneficial to the entire electric vehicle industry.

To ensure that all safety functions and features are included, it is mandatory to upgrade to version 1.6.

Photovoltaic self-supply

With its photovoltaic self-supply function, the charging station can be combined with a photovoltaic installation, meaning that the charging station can be used to charge the electric car using the electricity produced by the home’s solar panels.
